We feel that it is important for salespeople to have good first-hand knowledge and experience of a product they are expected to sell. In our case, the salespeople are travel agents and the product is an Atlantic Canadian travel experience. Therefore when an agency chooses to include BayofFundy.com self-drive vacations in their product inventory, we like to take the time to get to know the agency and its agents.
Although we have conducted some in-office training sessions in the past, we have found that it is equally effective to do this same training via a conference call. Once a date and time has been set for the 45-minute training session, we e-mail the agency a link to our training presentation, which is done through PowerPoint. We then walk through the slideshow with the group on the other end of the phone and discuss the uniqueness of the region, geography of the region and our travel products. In addition, we also supply agencies with reference binders containing information about the Bay of Fundy as well as information sheets about all of our self-drive holidays.
