Locally referred to as the Head Harbour Lighthouse, this is one of Canada’s oldest lighthouses. Now automated, its purpose has always been to help boats navigate the Bay of Fundy and the Passamaquoddy Bay. Time your visit to the lighthouse carefully as it is only accessible an hour and a half before, and one hour after, low tide. East Quoddy Lighthouse is one of the most photographed lighthouses in the world.

Other Facts:

  • Built between 1829-1830; lighted in 1831.
  • It is a 51-foot tower featuring the (red) cross of St. George.
  • The lighthouse was destaffed in 1986.

Directions from Lubec:  After crossing the bridge, travel approximately 2.5-miles past the customs station at Roosevelt Campobello International Park.  Turn right at the intersection and follow NB 774 North.  Remain on the road for 7-miles through Wilson's Beach to Head Harbour and the light.

"We did have a great time and your planning was excellent.  I have no hesitation referring to you if my colleagues request a vacation service for eastern Canada.  Once again, thanks."  - Dr. Joel Andersen, Sudbury ON - Itinerary Planning Service July 2003
