Acadian Museum, Moncton
Located on the campus of l'Universite de Moncton, the Acadian Museum showcases an interesting and varied collection of artifacts that reflect Acadian heritage and heritage from 1604 through to present day. Displays include a book written by explorer Samuel de Champlain, an original Acadian flag, Acadian newspapers and more. Open weekdays 10am-5pm, weekends 1pm-5pm. Admission charged.
Albert County Museum, Albert County
Promoting the history and heritage of Albert County and its people, the Albert County Museum reflects on the life and times of the region's pioneers. Seafaring, shipbuilding, lumbering, mining and farming were all popular industries within this unique region, and a visit to this museum will introduce you not only to the industrial history of Albert Country, but also the folks who lived and worked here. Discover fascinating books and newspapers, detailed maps, original documents from County records, a video of a schooner loading lumber off Alma in the 1940's and numerous pictures of people and buildings. Also, for those researching their ancestry, the Albert County Museum is an invaluable resource for birth and death records, census records and even a few complete family trees. Barbour's General Store, Saint John
Originally located in Sheffield, New Brunswick, 60 miles up the St. John River, Barbour's General Store was brought to Saint John in 1967 to mark both the centennial year of Canada and the G.E. Barbour Company. Set up as an authentic 19th century country store, the museum boasts over 2000 artifacts including china, cooking utensils, farm tools and an interesting pharmacy. Barbour's General Store is located in Uptown Saint John, at Market Slip, and is staffed by costumed interpreters. Open mid-June through mid-September, 10am-6pm. Free admission.
Charlotte County Museum, St. Stephen
Glimpse into life as it was in Charlotte County between the late 18th century and early 20th century as you explore the Charlotte County Musem. The building, constructed in 1864, was the former residence of James Simpson Murchie, a well-respected lumberman who helped establish local industries and transportation facilities. In 1928, Emma Eaton, one of Murchie's daughters, donated her family home to the Town of Milltown. For 45 years the Murchie home was used as the Town Hall and in 1980 it opened its doors as the Charlotte County Museum. Many great exhibits within the museum tell of the immigration of early settlers - Loyalists, Scots and the Irish - and the relationship with the American North East and others give tribute to prosperous industries of the past. Once a world-renowned lumbering and shipbuilding area, find many interesting items from this era within the museum as well as items from Canada's second largest Cotton Mill, the Soap Factory and Ganong Bros Candy Factory. Another fascinating exhibit showcases early Chinese porcelain, furniture and temple doors that were brought to the region by Captain Thomas Wheelock during the height of the Chinese trade in the 1850s. Other exhibits of interest include three mahogany tables built by celebrated St. Stephen cabinetmaker John Warren Moore, the Country Kitchen, Tool Shed, Charlotte Country School Room and displays of 19th century handworks. The Charlotte County Museum is open June 1-September 1, 9:30am-4:30pm.
Grand Manan Whale & Seabird Research Station, Grand Manan
Located across from Coastal Transport's ticketing office in North Head, find the Grand Manan Whale & Seabird Research Station. Established in 1981, the GMWSRS addresses issues concerning, among others, the accidental entrapment of harbour porpoises and whales in fishing equipment, the endangered North Atlantic Right Whale and the general marine conservation of the Bay of Fundy. Inside the Station view interesting interpretive displays of local marine life. The Grand Manan Whale & Seabird Research Station is a non-profit facility.
Huntsman Marine Science Centre, St. Andrews
The centre provides its visitors with an excellent opportunity to learn about the diverse life forms found in and around the Gulf of Maine and the Bay of Fundy Coastal region. Find fascinating displays of aquatic and marine life including an invertebrate touch pools, aquarium displays of freshwater and marine fish, terrariums of amphibians and reptiles, a collection of sea and shorebird photographs and a deep-sea exhibit with life-size models and larger than life murals. The seals who summer at the Huntsman Marine Science Centre will also be sure to warm your hearts. May/June: Open 7 days a week, 10am-4:30pm; July/August: Open 7 days a week, 10am-6pm. King's Landing Historical Settlement, Fredericton
Set in the majestic St. John River Valley and winner of many national and international awards, King's Landing is one of Canada's top living history museums, gives its visitors a look into 100 years of history and transformation. Listen for creaking wagons pulled by trotting work horses, the clang of the blacksmith's anvil, the whooshing of hoop skirts and distant melodies from lively fiddlers and dancing townsfolk. Witness the bustle of farm life and learn first hand how ordinary people lived and worked in the 19th century. Great dining opportunities. Loyalist House, Saint John
Built in 1810, this Georgian-style house is the oldest building in the City of Saint John. Built by a wealthy Loyalist from New York, David Daniel Merrit, six generations of Merrit’s went on to call this Union Street dwelling “home”. Loyalist House contains many impressive features such as eight fireplaces, authentic Georgian antique furnishings and a graceful curving staircase. Open June through September. Admission charged.
Memramcook Historical Society Museum, Memramcook
Located in the old school of former Village de Saint-Joseph, Memramcook Historical Society Museum relives the region's fascinating Acadian history through its various displays and exhibits. Open throughout July and August, 10am-8pm.
Military Museum CFB Gagetown, Oromoncto
Canadian Forces Base Gagetown, located in Oromocto, New Brunswick, is the largest military training base in the British Commonwealth. For travellers with an interest in the forces or war history, the onsite Military Museum is a must-see attraction. Displays include weapons, uniforms and equipment dating back to the 1800s, the South African War, WWI, WWII, the Korean Conflict and United Nations Missions. Various military vehicles may be viewed outside the actual museum. Admission: Free.
Moncton Museum & Free Meeting House, Moncton
Located off Mountain Road, Moncton Museum invites visitors to explore the city's history from the days of the Mi'kmaq through to present day. The Free Meeting House, next to the museum, is one of Moncton's oldest structures and has been restored to its original style (c 1821). Open Monday-Saturday 9:00am-4:30pm and Sunday 1:00pm-5:00pm. New Brunswick Museum, Saint John

Olivier Soapery, Bouctouche
Canada's Soap Economuseum, the Olivier Soapery is a country soapery dedicated to preserving this part Canadian heritage that includes soap-making and therapeutic treatments. When you visit this living museum located in Bouctouche, New Brunswick, witness live demonstrations and learn the traditional craft of soap-making as it was done in the early 19th century and the history, art and evolution of skin care. Saint John Jewish Historical Museum, Saint John
A beautiful example of the High Victorian-Gothic style designed by renowned Saint John architect David E. Dunham, the Saint John Jewish Historical Museum was created in the 1980s to preserve the Jewish heritage of the city. This is the only Jewish museum in Atlantic Canada. Located next to the Shaarei Zedek Synagogue, the Saint John Jewish Historical Museum is open between mid-May and October. Donations are accepted.
Roosevelt Cottage, Campobello
Covering 2800 acres, Roosevelt Campobello International Park is home to the Roosevelt Cottage, former summer retreat of President Roosevelt and his wife Eleanor. Learn the history of the island and its significance to the Roosevelt family. Also located in the park is Mulholland Point Lighthouse. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. Open daily late May through early October, 10am-6pm Atlantic. The last tour of the cottage is at 5:45pm Atlantic.
Ross Memorial Museum, St. Andrews
This 1824 Gregorian mansion, also referred to as Chestnut Hall, showcases the art collection of Henry Phipps and Sarah Juliette Ross - an American couple who fell in love with St. Andrews in the 1902 and spent the next 40 summers in this seaside, resort town. The collection includes the fine work of 19th century New Brunswick cabinet makers and objets d'art from the couple's world travels. Open throughout July and August, Monday through Saturday 10am-4:30pm and September through mid-October, Tuesday through Saturday 10am-4:30pm. Admission by donation.
Salem and Hillsborough Railroad, Hillsborough
A museum and tourist railroad, the Salem & Hillsborough Railroad is an interesting attraction found in Hillsborough, New Brunswick. In the museum discover an extensive collection of railway artifacts and equipment, then perhaps enjoy a relaxing ride through the beautiful countryside on the Salem & Hillsborough Railroad, an 11km stretch of track formerly owned by the Canadian National Railway Company. Science East, Fredericton
A hands-on science centre, visitors to Fredericton's Science East will enjoy over 100 exhibits that illustrate the basics of science in an entertaining way. The Chocolate Museum, St. Stephen
A not-for-profit organisation, The Chocolate Museum is located in Downtown St. Stephen - only three blocks from the United States border - in the original Ganong candy factor, next door to the Ganong Chocolatier. (You may wish to visit the Ganong Chocolatier next to purchase delectable hand-dipped chocolates!) First opening in June of 1999, The Chocolate Museum presents the story of James and Gilbert Ganong, who started this popular candy-making business in the late-1800's. Today, Ganong's is the oldest family-owned candy-making company in the country. Step inside the old factory to discover hands-on exhibits, interactive computer displays and collections of historic chocolate boxes and antique candy-making equipment. As a very important part of town's heritage, St. Stephen was officially registered as "Canada's Chocolate Town" in 2000 and hosts Chocolate Fest at the beginning of each August. The Grand Manan Museum, Grand Manan
Showcasing the island's history, the Grand Manan Museum offers it visitors many fascinating facts and displays. Stroll through the Marine Gallery, read about the Geology of the Island and see the Allan Moses Bird Collection. This Bird Collection, bequeathed to the children of Grand Manan in 1953, features over 300 different species of mounted birds - many of which can be spotted, alive, in the Fundy Isles. The Grand Manan Museum is open May 31-September 30, Monday-Friday between 9am and 5:30pm. During July and August the museum is also open on Saturdays.
