Visit the country’s smallest province - Prince Edward Island. The Province’s capital, Charlottetown, is the birthplace of Canada and home to many interesting heritage attractions, fabulous festivals and more. On the island’s northern shore is Cavendish where you will understand the allure of Anne with a visit to Green Gables, the setting of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s famous tales, stroll the boardwalk in search of an original P.E.I. Dirt Shirt or play in the ocean’s surf.

Also, as Canada’s leading golf destination, P.E.I. is home to thirty diverse courses. Savour island specialties of shellfish and lobster or a plate of Irish Cobbler potatoes smothered in pepper and butter. Images of the mile-long white sand beaches, red sandstone cliffs and the deep blue Atlantic Ocean of Prince Edward Island will long be embedded in your memory.

Getting to the Island

Confederation Bridge

The Confederation Bridge, joining Cape Jourimain, NB to Borden-Carleton, PE, is the longest bridge spanning ice covered waters in the world. A part of the Trans Canada Highway system, the Confederation Bridge stretches 13 kilometres across the Northumberland Strait. Although cyclists and pedestrians are not permitted to cross the bridge, there is a complimentary shuttle that transports passengers between the two provinces. Upon your arrival on Prince Edward Island stop at the Gateway Village to obtain tourist information, dine at a good restaurant or to do a little souvenir shopping.

Northumberland Ferries Limited

Departing from Caribou, Nova Scotia and Wood Islands, PEI is a ferry ride operated by Northumberland Ferries Ltd. The crossing takes approximately 75 minutes.  Learn more...

Tolls

There is no fee to get on the Island, but one must be paid as you return to the mainland whether crossing the bridge or using the ferry service.

"It was a great trip.  Thanks to having the itinerary and the tickets on hand we truly took advantage of all there was to do in New Brunswick without waiting to arrive there to find out what there was to do." - Mary Andrade & Family, Miami FL - Itinerary Planning Service June 2004
