Served up by the highest tides in the world, directly from the Bay of Fundy to you, comes a smorgasbord of Atlantic seafood. Your catch of the day has been chilled by the salty seawater of the Bay which maintains an average year-round temperature of about 0° to 2° Celsius (or 32° to 36° Fahrenheit). The temperature makes the Bay a perfect environment for the growth and reproduction of some of the best catch in North America, and it is chilled to perfection.

Here in the Bay of Fundy you will dine on haddock, shrimp, clams, crab, scallops and lobster taken dripping wet from nature’s cooler to the Chef’s pot. All are rich in the vitamins and oils hailed for centuries by nutritionists, dieticians and physicians alike, for their healthful and youth preserving qualities. Discover what the Bay of Fundy wildlife has known all along – the Bay houses life-sustaining nutrients.

Each year at Mary’s Point, the semi palmated sandpipers arrive in droves to consume enough succulent mud shrimp to double their weight before continuing their trek to South America. In July and August, humpback whales come to the Bay to feast on herring and krill. They are believed to require as much as one million calories per day to carry them through their winter fasting period. Other whale species know the Bay intimately as well. Yes, here is one of their best feeding grounds in North America.

They have become masters of seafood cooking from time-tested recipes of the region passed on from generation to generation. Their knowledge of seafood preparation is as phenomenal as the Bay itself.

For the first time ever, our master seafood chefs will reveal their trade secrets in gourmet cooking to a select group of participants. This is a rare opportunity to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow seafood lovers in a relaxing celebration of a Bay of Fundy Gourmet Seafood Fest. Sea.Fire.Salt. is a getaway designed to share with you some Bay of Fundy gourmet seafood in a relaxed environment. Your host for the first Bay of Fundy Culinary experience will be the Ocean Terrace Dining Room at the Mariner’s Inn, Chance Harbour, New Brunswick. This tasteful country inn, overlooks one of the most stunning vistas along the Fundy coast.

As word gets out, more of these getaways may be offered at various other locations. But for now, the Chefs of Fundy are sharpening their cooking utensils, gathering their spices, heating up the fires and looking forward to sharing their passion for the Bay and its marvellous seafood with you in Chance Harbour, New Brunswick.
