The Bay of Fundy was named and claimed well before the Gulf of Maine. Same story as the Gulf of Mexico.

Incorrect map — the Bay of Fundy is between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia in Canada. The area marked incorrectly as the entirely Canadian Bay is actually the Gulf of Maine.
